...so I guess it's been a while. A year to be exact.

And so, it's this time of the year again, where the nerds and geeks and otaku and hikikomori (here's hoping that none reside in Denmark) venture out to the grand convention of the year, J-Popcon. This time, having changed location due to the fact that it's become a massive festival during the last few years with its main attraction; the cosplay contest. As always, I will be accompanying my friend, :icongizmo2300: to the holy grounds where this year I'll be meeting up with a bunch of people I didn't know just 2 months ago.
The reason to this is because I started studying Japanese at uni, and many of my classmates are regular conventiongoers. So obviously, I'm going to see many of these, most of them dressed up. I have some plans myself cosplaying as one of the characters of my new massive point of interest, the Moomins by Tove Jansson. What relation do these characters have to do with Japanese pop culture, you ask? A whole deal, as already in the 60's Japanese animated films were made about the fluffy trolls and their friends, and they experienced quite a renaissance in the 90's becoming an anime series lasting 50+ episodes. So in my opinion, they are very relevant to this convention. And also, many of the con-goers do remember the Moomins from their childhoods, being both fondly reminded of the cozy, easygoing and cute Moomin family and their friends, or stricken with fear at the memory of the Groke or the Hattifatteners or the Lady of the Cold. In any case, the people at the convention will be experiencing yet another renaissance of the Moomin characters, and hopefully they will continue to become popular again.
I know I've been rambling for some time now, and I might sound idealistic to the point of someone calling me the next Johnny Reimar of the Moomins, as he was the one who brought the Smurfs onto Danish ground and into the everyday life of children and adults alike back whenever that happened.

On another note, but still in terms of dressing up, Halloween is coming up soon, and I've gotten the perfect idea for a costume. It's going to be scary, oh yeah. I'm going to a party with the people from uni, where I'm sure there will be a lot of dressing up as well. I'm looking forward to scaring the pants off people. That came out wrong, no?
In any case, autumn is looking great for me, and November is going to be a blast, hopefully being over fast, so we can at last enjoy the... (I can't find any more words rhyming with 'blast') ...Yule season with all its good food, candy and splendor.

Until next time,

Mata ne!
